What is BeMSA?

BeMSA is the national organisation representing Belgian medical students from every university with a medicine program. We are also a member of the IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students' Associations) which offers a lot of international opportunities to our students.

Through BeMSA, you can:

Exchanges

Participate in international research or clinical exchanges

Projects

Contribute to public health/sexual health/medical education/human rights projects

International network

Represent students in national and international congresses.

Join a global network of future doctors and healthcare leaders.

Trainings

Attend or organize practical trainings (suturing, patient care, first aid workshops, ...).

On this website you can also find more detailed information about the international meetings, exchanges, projects and the BeMSAs in the other universities. So feel free to take a look and see what the possibilities are.

What Are We Looking for?

Board members

Project managers (PMs)

General members

Underneath you can find the open positions

  • VPE: Vice-President on external affair
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • LORP (2)
  • LPO
  • LORE (2)
  • LEO (2)

These are people organising the projects of ULB within BeMSA's standing committees (which you can find on the top of this website). These can be old projects where you will get all the info on how to organise it from the board, or it can be a new project for which you are very motivated.

If you are not sure yet of what you want to do within BeMSA, or you do not want to take on too big a responsibility? Then this is for you!

As a general member you can help organise the project (but are not the responsible person for it), join teambuilding events, join national meetings or even international meetings!

This is a completely valid question!
However BeMSA is built by students, for students, and we all know how intense (medical) studies can be.

That's why we want to be a low threshold organisation: where you can put your motivation and inspiration to use without compromising your studies. Every project is run by a team, so you are never doing it alone. Depending on the size and the interest in the project, the team can be very big or a more intimate group. The projects are also all very flexible so you only organise with your team what you are able to organise.
You can also choose how you see your role in BeMSA: whether this means helping in one event on a specific aspect or joining the board, everybody is needed and welcome!

Not at all!
BeMSA is open to students in the (bio)medical field at ULB*, so that means a lot of different courses: medicine, pharmacy, bio-informatics, ...
Everyone can contribute — whether it’s for exchanges, public health, communications, or events.

*And the big plus side of our national organisation: if you transfer university, you'll never have to miss us since we are present in every Belgian university with a medical course!

Yes!
Nobody starts with experience. We provide all the support, guidance, and resources you need. Besides the general members to help you: you also will find a local AND national board willing to help you succeed.

We love fresh perspectives and motivated people. You’ll learn quickly by doing — together.

Definitely not!

Local projects and meetings are mostly in French.
International activities (exchanges, trainings, national meetings) however are in English, but you decide where you want to be involved of course. So English is certainly not needed to participate in BeMSA.
